THE DAY BEFORE (our briefing)
Upon your arrival in Bolzano, you’ll be welcomed by your mountain guide at your hotel. Sipping a cup of marvelous Italian espresso (or an “aperitivo”), we’ll have a organizative briefing about your program.
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: Day 1 – Seiser Alm plateau
Walking time: 3-5 hrs – Total vertical gain: 500 m.
The first day on the snowshoeing in Dolomites is dedicated at a short introductive excursion to the Malga Hofer in the fantastic environment of the Seiser Alm. From 3 to max 5 hours of walking in which we’ll refine the technique of moving with snowshoes on deep snow.
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: DAY 2 – Val Venegia
Walking time: 4-5 hrs – Total vertical gain: 400 m.
The Val Venegia is one of the most famous and amazing valleys of the Dolomites, located at the shadow of the imponent peaks of the Pale di San Martino. With this second snowshoeing tour we cross along the valley until the Costazza Pass and then we descend quickly to the Rolle Pass or we go on the same way back. Don’t forgot your photocamera!
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: Day 3 – Fassa Valley
Walking time: 5-6 hrs – Total vertical gain: 700 m.
Our target on the second day of snowshoeing in the Dolomites is a peak in Fassa Valley. We’ll go to the lateral Val San Nicolò where, incredible to see, we’ll climb up to the Mount Palon (2252 m.). From this peak we have different ways for the descend… but every of these solution arrive at the Baita Soldanella where we can taste a very good local cousine!
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: Day 4 – Sella Group
Walking time: 4-5 hrs – Total vertical gain: 280 m.
If the avalanche danger forecast will be ok, your snowshoes will walking at 3000 m! This is a panoramic day in altitude in the Sella Group. We’ll reach the Pordoi Pass and climb up the Pordoi peak by cableway. Further on, we’ll descend to the Refugio della Forcella going ahead to the Piz Boè, that with the elevation of 3152 meters is one of the most panoramic peaks of the Dolomites.
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: Day 5 – Sarentino Valley
Walking time: 3-4 hrs – Total vertical gain: 500 m.
A snowshoeing day in Val Sarentino. We’ll reach Val Sarentino, as you prefer, by a brief walk to a refuge nearby or by climbing a peak; it will depend on the weather. In the afternoon we’ll visit the Castle “Roncolo”, the most important medieval castle of the Southern Tyrol with a circle of frescos unique in Europe.
Snowshoeing in Dolomites: Day 6 – Ultental Valley
Walking time: 4-5 hrs – Total vertical gain: 600-700 m.
A day in Val d’Ultimo. We’ll discover this charming and hidden valley which includes a characteristic rural architecture. Excursion to a local refuge and lunch. In the afternoon visit to the city of Merano. If your prefer to have a relaxing bath in the pharaonic spa of Merano, don’t hesitate to enjoy on of the most beautiful thermal bath on the old continent…
