Bolzano Bozen town

Upon your arrival in Bolzano, you’ll be welcomed by your mountain guide at your hotel. Sipping a cup of marvelous Italian espresso (or an “aperitivo”), we’ll have a briefing to go over your chosen program.

 

 

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 1 – Via Ferrata Roda de Vaèl

Walking time for the approach: 1.30 hrs
Climbing time: 2.30 hrs
Walking time for the next Rifugio: 1.30 hrs
Total time of this day: 6.30 hrs – Total vertical gain (up): 765 m.

central diagram day 1We start from your accommodation and take the local bus (for the single day option we go in the car of the mountain guide) to Karer pass. From Karer pass we take the Paolina chairlift to  Refuge Paolina  and than walk in direction of the Refuge Roda di Vael. Near this refuge the VIA FERRATA RODA DI VAEL begins. It’s a perfect Dolomites via ferrata for beginners not particularly exposed. After completing the via ferrata route, we descend to Vajolon pass and continue to Refuge Fronza alle Coronelle.

If you choose a “single day” option, the tour end here and we return to Bolzano.
If you choose the multi-days tour we overnight in the Rifugio and the next day we continue..

Walking time for the approach: 0.40 hrs
Climbing time: 2.30 hrs
Walking time for the next Rifugio: 3.30 hrs
Total time of this day: 6.40 hrs  –  Total vertical gain (up): 751 m.

central diagram day 2From Refuge Fronza alle Coronelle, we start by climbing the VIA FERRATA SANTNER to Santner pass where the Refuge Santner is located, then we continue to Refuge Re Alberto and on to Refuge Principe.

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 3  – Via Ferrata Antermoja

Walking time for the approach: 0.10 hrs
Climbing time: 4.00 hrs
Walking time for the next Rifugio: 2.30 hrs
Total time of this day: 6.40 hrs  –  Total vertical gain (up): 657 m.

We climb down on the other side and come back at Refugio Alpe di Tires. we continue cross the Udai Valley, and finish at the Refuge Sassopiatto/Plattkofelhuette

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 5 – Via Ferrata Schuster

central diagram day 5From Refuge Sasso Piatto, we head north to the Sasso Piatto peak and Refuge Vicenza and then climb the VIA FERRATA SCHUSTER.  We descend to the Refuge Sasso Piatto and continue to Refuge Valentini or Refuge Friedrich August at Sella pass

central diagram day 6From Refuge Valentini or Refuge Friedrich August, we climb the VIA FERRATA MEISULES, traverse the crags of the Sella Group to Pordoi saddle and descend to Hotel Savoia at Pordoi Pass ….the oldest Hotel of the Central Dolomites…. a historical building of the pre-touristical era….

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 7 – Via Ferrata Piazzetta

central diagram day 7From Hotel Savoia we climb the VIA FERRATA PIAZZETTA and return to the Pordoi pass. Then we continue on the Viel del Pan path to Refuge Viel del Pan (5-6 h) or Refuge Castiglioni at Fedaia Pass.

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 8 – Via Ferrata Trincee

central diagram day 8From Refuge Viel del Pan or Castiglioni, we climb the incredible VIA FERRATA DELLE TRINCEE (Via ferrata of WWI trenches).  It is an original Kaiserjaeger (Austrian mountain troops) via ferrata from the 1914-1918 war. We descend on the other side to Refuge Passo Fedaia

Via Ferrata Dolomites: DAY 10 – Via Ferrata Marmolada West Crest

Walking time for the approach: 1.50 hrs
Climbing time: 3.00 hrs
Walking time back to the starting point: 2.00 hrs
Total time of this day: 6.50 hrs  –  Total vertical gain (up): 643 m.

Via Ferrata Dolomites: via ferrata Marmolada Punta Penia

central diagram day 10The last day….. from Refuge Pian dei Fiacconi, we climb the Marmolada Penia peak (the highest summit of the Dolomites at 3343 m) via the west ridge on the VIA FERRATA DI PUNTA PENIA. We descend on the main glacier of the Marmolata to Refuge Pian dei Fiacconi and then back to Bolzano.

This is the last possible day of the maximal espression of the Via Ferrata trek, hut to hut, in the Central Dolomites!
